Manikarnika- The Queen of Jhansi
Manikarnika- The Queen of Jhansi movie is based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi.
The Movie starts with the birth of Manikarnika in the Ghats of Varanasi. She was raised by her father Moropant Tambe and Bajirao in Bithoor(a town in Kanpur District). A young brave and kind-hearted Manu was spotted by one Jhansi Minister, Dixit Ji when she was hunting a tiger and he was impressed by her adventure and proposed marriage between the Manu and the king of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao.
The Marriage is celebrated loudly and the people of Jhansi heartily welcomed their new queen. Sadashiv a member of the royal family is platting against the Gangadhar Rao with the British officers who have promised that he will be rewarded by lots of money and estate when the Jhani will be under the British Rule. Sadashiv wickedly kills the newborn(Damodar Rao) and left the king to count the remaining days to have an heir for the throne of Jhansi the King decided to adopt a child. Sadashiv refuses the king’s order and revolt against the future queen Lakshmi Bai.
After few months the King died and The East India company tried to annex the kingdom of Jhansi by using Doctrine of Lapse as it does not have a male successor after that Rani Lakshmi bai refuses to practices the lively of widowhood and she takes the responsibility of the throne to save her subjects from Britishers.
She lost everything for the sake of the country, later on, she reunites with Tantia Tope and other allies. She recaptures Gwalior and motivates Maratha soldiers to participate in the Independence war. Later in the movie, Laxmi Bai attacks the British army but then faces a certain defeat. At the end of the film she was shot but she immolates herself to avoid being humiliated by the British soldiers after her death.
